The 11th International Powder & Bulk Solids Processing Conference & Exhibition (IPB), held from October 15 to 17, 2013 at the Shanghai International Exhibition Center, has come to a fruitful close. 166 exhibitors from eleven countries showcased the latest technologies for processing powder, granules, and bulk solids on a display space of more than 2,349 sqm. The next IPB will take place from October 14 to 16, 2014 at the Shanghai International Exhibition Center (INTEX).
During the three days, IPB 2013 attracted 6,446 visitors from 24 countries and regions. Visitors came from a wide variety of industries − among them the chemical industry (30%), mechanical and plant engineering (12%), the pharmaceutical industry (10%), food and feed manufacturing (9%), and the mining industry (6%). Around 350 visitors at the parallel UK-China International Particle Technology Forum discussed recent advances and identified future research directions related to particle science and technology. The conference is held every two years; either in the UK or China. This year's attendees included engineers and scientists who were also key buyers at IPB. NürnbergMesse China and the Chinese Society of Particuology organized jointly China's annual "one-stop-shop" trade show for all industries focusing on mixing, conveying, milling, screening, and granulating. In the past eleven years, IPB has become the most important international platformfor the powder and bulk sector in China.Almost every fifth exhibitor was international. The top exhibiting nations after China were Germany, Japan, and the U.S. Leading international companies like Hosokawa, NEUMAN & ESSER, and Malvern – and local Chinese brands including the MiYou Group – participated in IPB.The products on display included basic mechanical processing as well as nano particle technologies, measurement and control, and many more. 80% of the exhibitors were satisfied with the professional qualifications and competence of the trade visitors. 91% of them explained that they were able to reach their most important target groups during IPB 2013. Every ninth exhibitor expected noticeable follow-up business due to contacts made during the trade show.
Informative supporting program
The high-calibre exhibition was complemented by an informative supporting program. BS&B Safety System Asia Pacific hosted the workshop "Industrial Dust Explosion Risk Management". FilterSense reported on "Particulate Monitoring, Baghouse Diagnostic Application and Benefits within Powder and Bulk Industry". Zhangjiagang Fanchang Machinery organized a seminar on the topic "The mixing, measure and transport for the powder materials". Another highlight at the IPB 2013 was the workshop "Optimizing Dry Powder Measurements" held by HORIBA Trading in the ShanghaiMart nearby INTEX.
